Dr Venetsanos is a Research Director at the Environmental Research Laboratory of the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & Safety in the National Center for Scientific Research Demokritos, Greece.
He holds a PhD in the simulation of the atmospheric dispersion of dangerous substances (University of Patras, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department, 2002) and a Mechanical Engineering Diploma (National Technical University of Athens, 1986).
He is an expert on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the main developer of the general purpose in-house CFD code ADREA-HF. His research interests focus on the modeling/simulation of physical phenomena in single/multi-phase, multi-component flow, dispersion and combustion, including phase change, heat transfer and turbulence.
His scientific work includes 70 publications in international peer reviewed scientific journals (h-index: 19, Scopus), 100 contributions to international / national conferences and 1 patent. He has supervised 4 PhDs.
Dr Venetsanos is a leading international expert in Hydrogen Safety with 39 related papers in international peer-reviewed journals (33 in Int. J. of Hydrogen Energy) and more than 20 years of experience in related EC-funded projects such as EIHP, EIHP-2, HYSAFE, HYAPPROVAL, HYPER, HYINDOOR, SUZANA, NET-TOOLS, PRESLHY, HYTUNNEL-CS. He is also the representative of NCSR ‘Demokritos’ in the International Association for Hydrogen Safety (IA-HySafe) and Greek member in the IEA-Hydrogen implementing agreement – Hydrogen Safety.
