VASILIKI

Postdoctoral Researcher, Environmental Scientist

Dr. Vasiliki Vasilatou is a post-doctoral researcher at I.N.R.A.S.T.E.S., NCSR «Demokritos». She holds a BSc in Environmental Science (University of Aegean, Mutilini, Greece, 2008), an MSc in the field of Environmental Chemistry (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, 2010) and a PhD in Environmental Chemistry (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, 2017). She has approximately 10 years of research experience on the field of aerosol characterisation, and in particular on the implementation of sampling campaigns and the standard method for the gravimetric determination of PM10 and PM2.5, the chemical characterization of aerosol, PM source characterization and the application of air mass transport models. She has long experience in sampling Particulate Matter on filters according to EN12341 (preparation of filters, gravimetric analysis, calibration of low volume samplers) and on elemental analysis of PM (X-Ray Fluorescence and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy), data processing and statistical analysis of air pollution time series. She is technical expert for Pb, As, Cd and Ni measurements on Particulate Matter, according to EN14902. She has participated in 3 EU funded projects: i) ACEPT – AIR: Development of a cost efficient policy tool for reduction of particulate matter in air, ii) Thalis: Determination of the sources and the physicochemical properties of fine and ultrafine aerosol particles that affect the regional climate of Greece, iii) AIRUSE: Testing and Development of air quality mitigation measures in Southern Europe.  She has participated as well in ACTRIS (Aerosols, Clouds, and Trace gases Research InfraStructure network) activities. She is author of 14 articles in peer review scientific journals and approximately 25 articles in international conferences.
