GEORGE

Research Collaborator, Chemical Engineer

He holds a 5-year diploma and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Both of his thesis topics are related to hydrogen technologies and hybrid RES-hydrogen power systems. Currently, he acts as external Research Collaborator at the National Center for Scientific Research DEMOKRITOS (NCSRD) and member of its Integrated Hydrogen Laboratory (H2Lab). Experienced with strong technical and engineering background in RES and Hydrogen Technologies integration to hybrid power systems including among others modelling, simulations, optimization and techno-economic analysis of such systems. Hands-on experience has been also gained on electrolysis, hydrogen compression, hydrogen storage and fuel cell units through the years of work with on-site performance evaluation of such systems and participation in national (Greece, Cyprus) and international research projects. He has over 25 publications related to RES, hydrogen and energy storage. Recent activities include participation in the TRIĒRĒS project (Towards the development of a hydRogen valley demonstratIng applications in an intEgRated EcoSystem in Greece). Additionally, his work encompasses the study for the transformation of the Hellenic Gas TSO’s (DESFA) natural gas grid into “Hydrogen ready”, alongside the development, construction, optimization, and operation of a thermal, metal hydride-based, hydrogen compressor applicable to Hydrogen Refueling Stations (HRS). Furthermore, he was a member of the working group preparing the “Techno-economic study for hydrogen use in ports” for the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste & Water (RAEWW).
