Ioanna Koromila is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer who graduated from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2013. She currently studies at NTUA towards the PhD degree on the subject of integrated risk indices for ship design and operation. The PhD research is supported by a Eugenides Foundation scholarship (2015-2018). Ms. Koromila collaborates with the Laboratory of Systems Reliability and Industrial Safety of NCSR “Demokritos” where she participates in research projects focusing on maritime safety issues. In the past, she participated in the project “Analysis of maritime transport information for safe navigation on the environment – AMINESS” funded by the GSRT/Ministry of Development programme (2013-2015), and is currently working on risk assessment of critical transport (and storage) infrastructures focusing on the storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage in ports (2018-today). Her main research interests are the following: risk-based ship design, risk-based methods for fire safety, fire and evacuation analysis using advanced simulation tools, safety during LNG bunkering, safety on LNG terminals, risk assessment, risk-based methods, quantitative risk analysis, Bayesian analysis, maritime safety, maritime legislation.
