Dr. Chrysoula-Evangelia Karachaliou received her B.Sc. in Biology in 2008 from the Department of Biology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2011 she obtained her M.Sc. Degree in Biochemistry and in 2015 her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, while the experimental part of her thesis was carried out in NCSR “Demokritos”. From 2015 she is a Post-Doctoral fellow in the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & Safety, of NCSR “Demokritos”. She has been awarded two personalized scholarships, from NCSR “Demokritos” to conduct her M.Sc-Ph.D. thesis (2010-2014), and from IKY State Scholarship Foundation for a post-doctoral research (2017-2019). She has participated in European and national research programs, and is the author/co-author of over 15 research papers and proceedings papers in international journals and of more than 25 conference communications. Her interests include synthesis of bioactive peptides/compounds and biological evaluation in in vitro and in vivo systems, development and evaluation of immunoassay technologies for bioactive compounds/emerging pollutants/hazardous food contaminants, and solid surface biofunctionalization for advanced bioanalytical applications.
