Dr Paraskevi Apostolou works as post-doctoral researcher in the field of Cancer Genetics in Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (MDL) at the National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos”. She obtained her B.SC. in 2008 in Biology from the University of Patras and M.Sc. in 2010 in Molecular Medicine from the University of Athens, School of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in 2016 in Cancer Genetics from the University of Athens, Department of Biology in collaboration with MDL, NCSR “Demokritos”. She received an undergraduate and a post-doctoral Scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) in 2005 and 2017, respectively. Her current research focuses on hereditary cancer syndromes and rare diseases, identification of new cancer predisposing genes and molecular characterization of genetic variants. She has 23 publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and has received multiple fellowships and awards in National and International Conferences, including the European Society of Human Genetics. She has been invited to give talks in conferences and training courses. She participates in many European and National Research Projects. She teaches in postgraduate program: Basic Principles and Technologies in Bioinformatics at National Technical University of Athens. She is a member of European Society of Human Genetics and Hellenic Association of Medical Geneticists.
