Dr. Anastasios Labropoulos is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), holds a M.Sc. in “Polymer Science and Applications” (Department of Chemistry, University of Athens (NKUA)) and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry (Department of Chemistry, University of Athens (NKUA)). During the period 10/2005 – 6/2020, he worked as a PhD Candidate, Industrial Research Fellow and Post-doctoral Fellow at the National Center for Natural Sciences Research “Demokritos” (NCSR “Demokritos”). From 6/2022 – 12/2025 he worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Geoenergy (IG) of the Foundation for Research and Tecnology – Hellas (FORTH), in the University Campus, Chania, Greece. Since January 2026 he has been working at the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences and Technology, Energy & Safety (INRASTES) of NCSR “Demokritos”. His research activities include the (i) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on porous ceramic substrates, (ii) characterization of porous materials, (iii) investigation of sorption and diffusion of gases into porous and nanostructured solids and ionic liquids, (iv) capture and storage of gases for energy and environmental applications, (v) assessment of composite membranes’ efficiency in gas separations, (vi) development and study of catalytic membrane reactors with the aim to improve the performance of chemical processes, and (vii) study of carbon dioxide clathrates.
