H2TRANS

Development of an Autonomous Hybrid RES-H2 Integrated System for Local Transportation Systems
2019-2023 | European Regional Development Fund of the EU and Greek national funds under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE

Development of an Autonomous RES-driven Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS)

The H2TRANS project is developing the first hydrogen fuel refueling station in Greece. The final facility will consist of four basic elements:

    • the photovoltaic system for powering the electrolysis unit and all peripheral systems,
    • the hydrogen production system using renewable energy sources through PEM electrolysis,
    • the compression and storage system of hydrogen in gaseous form at 200 bar.
    • the hydrogen fuel supply system (dispenser).

Moreover, light duty H2 FC vehicles developed within the project (2 scooters, 1 utility cart) will be tested at real environment.

H2TRANS aims to contribute to goals such as the introduction of clean transport to improve quality of life and raising public awareness on hydrogen technologies. It will promote the dissemination of knowledge and best practices for the development of green hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) where hydrogen is produced from RES (PVs). It will also gather valuable experience in the design, installation and operation of safety systems, control  systems and monitoring of hydrogen networks.
