Afroditi Papasavva received her BSc in Pharmacy in 2014. In 2016, she received her MSc in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry (2016) from the Pharmacy Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (NKUA) in collaboration with the Institute of Nuclear and Radiological Sciences and Technology, Energy and Safety of NCSR “Demokritos”. In late 2016, she joined the Institute as a PhD student for the Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry sector and within 2018 got a scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation (ΙΚΥ).

Her thesis title is “Νew target-specific radiopharmaceuticals” and it refers to a series of radiolabeled mannosylated dextran derivatives with potential use in the sentinel lymph node detection. The development of potential diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals for the precise localization of the Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN), the hypothetical first lymph node to receive lymph and metastatic cells from the primary site of the tumor, is rapidly gaining interest in the management of patients with tumors.

The PhD thesis will be defended at the Department of Pharmacy of the NKUA.
