Ioannis Sakellaris is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Atmospheric Chemistry and Innovative Technologies Laboratory (AirTec-Lab), he acquired his diploma in Environmental Engineering (Democritus University of Thrace, GR), achieved an engineering Master of Sciences in the field of “Environment and Growth” (National Technical University of Athens, GR) and conducted his PhD (University of Western Macedonia/NCSR Demokritos, GR) in the field of Air Quality monitoring in Indoor Environments, including measurements of indoor/outdoor pollutants’ concentrations and physical parameters, collecting questionnaires from the occupants about their comfort and health and then analyzing these data by applying advanced statistical tools. Currently, his research interest is focused on environmental epidemiology and population health, particularly early-life determinants of health and in the evaluation of complex randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and advanced analytical approaches for public health interventions (INSERM – Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale, FR). His expertise covers experimental study of indoor/outdoor air pollution and ventilation conditions. He has also worked on building ventilation and air flow modeling. He is familiar conducting questionnaire surveys and currently he is working on processing and analyzing questionnaire and measurements’ large database using statistical tools and programming (Python, R, SPSS, Stata, MATLAB), working in high-performance Linux computing environments both in local cluster and mainly in the Greek Supercomputer Infrastructure “ARIS-GRNET”. Also, his research interests in climatic change adaptation including meteorological/air quality simulation tools and models (such as WRF/WRFCHEM/SFIRE, CAMx), focusing in weather and air quality changes in European urban areas. He has participated in 12 EU/national funded research projects (TREEADS, ICARUS, HEALS, OFFICAIR etc.) he has acquired 3 scholarships as PhD student (1) and as Post-Doc researcher (2), he has presented his research results in 41 local and international conferences and authored 28 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
