Dr. Christos Chatzichristos studied Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (1990) and received his PhD in Petroleum Engineering in 1996 (Dept. Of Petroleum Engineering, Heriot Watt University, UK). In 1997 he worked as a substitute lecturer teaching the course “Drilling Techniques” at the Technical University of Crete. From 1998 he started working at the Institute for Energy Technology, Dept. of Reservoir Technology (IFE, Norway), initially as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow and then as a Principal Investigator. In 2005 he joined the Institute of Nuclear Technology & Radiation Protection of the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, as a postdoctoral fellow and has been part of the Institute’s permanent scientific staff since 2007. He was elected as Special Functional Scientist in 2017. Over the years he has developed experience in the study three-phase flows, in the simulation of underground water and hydrocarbon reservoirs, in the characterization and monitoring (monitoring) of reservoirs and in the use of tracer technology (design, execution, analysis of results) for the mapping of underground reservoirs and the detection of organic pollution.
Development of an Autonomous RES-driven Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) The H2TRANS project is developing the first hydrogen fuel refueling station in Greece. The final facility will consist of four basic elements:
SHIPFC's main mission is to prove and show the case for large-scale zero-emission shipping through developing, piloting and replicating a modular 2MW fuel cell technology using ammonia as fuel.
HYSHIP focuses on building and scaling (to 20MW) fuel cell approaches that lower operational cost (capex) and design cost of LH2 PEM operations through the development and validation of a 2MW fuel cell liquid hydrogen ship, used in a hydrogen bunkering and supply chain, along with developing busines...
ATLAS-MHC focused on the development and evaluation of hydrogen compressors for electricity storage through upscaling a laboratory prototype metal-hydride compressor (MHC) and evaluating the pilot scale, precompetitive MHC implemented in a complete renewable energy storage system aiming to bring it ...
